Varietal Composition:
100% Edna Ranch Pinot Gris
Appellation:Edna Valley

Vineyard Information
Edna Ranch contains only three acres of Pinot Gris, located on a narrow ridge on the eastern slopes of the Edna Valley AVA. A very close relative of Pinot Noir, the Pinot Gris grape has a brassy golden-red color. It was one of the first varieties that we hand-harvested in the 2005 season, hand-picked early on the morning of September 3rd.
Winemaking & Cellar Information
Whole clusters were loaded directly into the press for a very gentle press cycle. An early press cut ensured retention of crisp acidity and eliminated any concern of pinking or astringency. 24 days of fermentation at a low temperature (55° max. temp.), retained delicate aromatics in the wine. This wine remained on its protective fermentation lees for approximately six months; the first racking came just prior to bottling.
