Vineyard Information
The close proximity to the Pacific ocean with it's cooling breezes and evening fog, makes for a long growing season, which allows extra hang-time, creating ideal conditions for our Estate Chardonnay. In 2003, the vintage produced low yields, concentrated berries, and high quality fruit. The blending of Dijon clones 76, 96 and the Tepesquet clone produced the perfect chemistry, creating the perfect balance of nuances that each of these clones imparts to the final blend.
Winemaking & Cellar Information
The grapes were whole cluster pressed, followed by a 24-hour cold settling period. 70% of the juice was racked into 60 gallon French oak barrels (30% new) while the remaining juice was racked into small stainless steel tanks. The seperate fermentation styles were used to emphasize the exceptional character of the Edna Ranch Estate Chardonnay. The final blend combining the two seperate treatments rendered a wine with bright focus, supple richness, and finesse.

Wine Enthusiast Review
"There’s something about certain Central Coast Chards that’s delicious, bright, pure in tangerine, papaya and honey, brilliant in acidity, and just so drinkable. This is one. It’s quite a wine, and at this price, a comparative value."- Wine Enthusiast
